This position utilizes engineering discipline (math, science, logic, and reasoning) as part of a cross-functional design team in the development of mobile construction products. New concepts and accompanying subsystems are developed, prototypes built, tested for performance and manufacturability, and then moved into a daily production environment.  Engineers coordinate multiple activities in the development process and are expected to aid in fabrication, assembly, and testing.

Responsibilities

Research and Development of mobile construction equipment by:

  • Working as a member of the design team to develop new product concepts by utilizing creativity, reviewing past performance, and integrating new methods and technologies.  Relevant areas include:
    • Mechanical, hydraulic, and electric drive systems
    • Electrical wiring and schematics
    • Controls systems and software
    • Data acquisition and analysis
    • Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
  • Development of chassis/supporting structures for engines, hydraulic, and electrical components using CAD software (Solidworks)
  • Source system components to meet performance specifications and cost goals
  • Hands-on fabrication and assembly of prototype designs
  • Creating documentation and working with manufacturing personnel to transition prototype projects to finished good production
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.                                               

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.        
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.  
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. 
  • Ability to use hand tools proficiently. 
  • Ability to operate hoist safely. 
  • Ability to use manual presses proficiently. 
  • Ability to use air tools, grinders and saws proficiently.

 

Computer Skills                                        

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; 3D Design software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software (MS Office).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay wage: $80K/hr + DOE
  • Sschedule: M-F in office (7-8am start time/flexible)
