  • Overview

    General mechanical assembly of MQ power generators, which includes but not limited to; mounting, drilling, grinding, altering, and aligning assemblies and subassemblies.


    • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, prints and parts list. Gather parts, subassemblies, tools and materials
    • Read prints and specifications to determine component parts and assembly sequences of electromechanical units
    • Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications. Communicate with supervisors to obtain additional information or resources
    • Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly
    • File, lap and buff parts to fit, using hand and power tools
    • Inspect, test and adjust completed units to ensure that units meet specifications, tolerances and customer order requirements
    • Attach name plates and mark identifying information on parts
    • Disassemble units to replace parts or to crate them for shipping
    • Drill, tap, ream, countersink and spot-face bolt holes in parts, using drill presses and portable power drills
    • Maintain inventory levels by checking stock required for ever day assembly
    • Measure parts to determine tolerances, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers and Vernier’s
    • Clean and lubricate parts and subassemblies, using grease paddles or solvents.
    • Operate small cranes and/or forklifts to transport or position large parts
    • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
    • Perform other duties that may be assigned


    • 1-3 years of mechanical or fabrication experience in a production/assembly environment
    • One year Mechanical/Fabrication certification from junior college or trade school is a plus
    • Able to operate a forkliftAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    • The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands. Occasional lifting between 25 and 50 pounds, Carrying, pushing and or pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 35% walking, and 55% standing.


    NOTE: Multiquip is moving to Fullerton, CA approximately in September, 2019. This position will initially be located at our current Carson, CA location from the time of hire to the projected move date.
