Coordinates activities involved with the procurement of goods and services such as raw materials, fabricated parts, finished goods, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, etc. to support units sales, production, and aftermarket parts support for Power Equipment products.


  • Reviews material requirements (via requisitions either in SAP format or via manual forms) for accuracy, validity, purchase / usage history, etc. to make best option determinations on purchase quantities and vendor selection.
  • Sourcing new / existing components to obtain best quality / price for current and future requirements. Work with Engineering drawings for bid submittal.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule and estimates values according to knowledge of market price / conditions.
  • Interacts with multiple departments including other buyers, manufacturing, receiving, quality, engineering, product management, sales, accounting and parts / aftermarket support to ensure proper flow of information throughout the supply chain process.
  • Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Executes transfers between warehouses as needed.
  • Qualifies new suppliers and maintains existing supplier relationships to ensure quality procurement throughout the Supply Chain process. 
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. 
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. 
  • Expedites delivery of goods to users / production departments.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.


  • 3-5 years as purchasing agent in some type of manufacturing environment if possible 
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience                                 
  • Basic understanding of Supply Chain Concepts
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing processes and a basic ability to read / understand Engineering drawings / Engineering Change orders.
  • Able to read and understand standard and multi-level Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions through digital photos, oral or diagram form
  • Troubleshooting skills and experience is required
  • Strong interpersonal customer service and telephone skills
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills                                                             


Candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications and have the ability to accurately and proficiently enter information into computer systems – SAP experience a plus.
