Multiquip has an opening in the Boise, Idaho manufacturing facility for a Buyer. As a Buyer, responsible for the procurement of goods and services from a class or family of suppliers in direct support of manufacturing operations. Primary contact with suppliers in the areas of supplier performance, engineering change implementation, flow of material, inventory control, and disposition of non-conforming goods.
Reviews material requirements (via requisitions either in SAP format or via manual forms) for accuracy, validity, purchase / usage history, etc. to make best option determinations on purchase quantities and vendor selection.
Sourcing new / existing components to obtain best quality / price for current and future requirements. Work with Engineering drawings for bid submittal.
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule and estimates values according to knowledge of market price / conditions.
Interacts with multiple departments including other buyers, manufacturing, receiving, quality, engineering, product management, sales, accounting and parts / aftermarket support to ensure proper flow of information throughout the supply chain process.
Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Executes transfers between warehouses as needed.
Qualifies new suppliers and maintains existing supplier relationships to ensure quality procurement throughout the Supply Chain process.
Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Expedites delivery of goods to users / production departments.
Performs other duties that may be assigned.
Associate’s degree (A.A) from Jr. college or university with emphasis in Business Administration; or one to two years related experience, preferrably in manufacturing and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems (SAP is desired); Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
