Multiquip Inc. has an opening in the Boise office for a Prototype Technician. The Prototype Technician works closely under the Engineering Manager for installation and construction of mechanical or electromechanical prototypes, products, or plant systems by performing the following duties.
Reviews requirements or instructions to assist in the design and development of new components or redesign of existing components to improve company products.
Confers with research engineering to clarify or resolve problems, and develops design.
Prepares or directs preparation of product or system as directed by Engineering Manager.
Prepares and tests prototype product under direction of Engineering Manager.
Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.
Assists in the Planning and development of experimental test programs.
Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
Confers with engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
Maintains a working knowledge of new developments, techniques, and products in the industry.
Performs other duties that may be assigned.
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Solidworks experience preferred. LabView experience preferred.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Mechanical orientation and experience preferred. Must be able to use shop tools. Must be able to use air powered tools. Should be familiar with operation of CNC & manual lathe & mill. Ability to MIG weld desired. Demonstrated ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes.
