Overview

Electrical assembly of parts, wires and electrical components onto power generator units or power subassemblies and assemblies. 

Responsibilities

  • Routes, wires, assembles, and installs electrical and electronic components onto generator  assembly, such as reconnection board , terminal blocks, controls, buss panels,  engine DC, Generator AC , junction terminal boxes, main control switch panels. Be able to read work orders, blueprints, wiring diagrams and specifications to determine established assembly methods
  • Cuts wire and or cable to specified lengths, using wire cutters
  • Cuts plastic sleeves and slips sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections
  • Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping device
  • Routes, combs, twists, wraps, ties, and attaches wire to terminal points, according to layout, using soldering gun and hand tools
  • Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, switches, solenoids, circuit breakers, buss panels, reconnection boards
  • Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments
  • Must supply your own hand tools, such as screwdrivers, sockets, wrenches, ratchets and pliers, as well as tool storage
  • Be able to work in tight areas.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

 

One year certificate from college, junior college, or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences

 

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
